It’s that time of year. Maybe different (again) this year, but it’s still the holidays. The season of giving.
This year, I’m going to suggest something radical. Put yourself on your gift list.
Too often, we are rushing around finding gifts for others. Trying to wrap up work before – maybe – taking a break over the holidays. There is added stress and strain this time of year, on top of what’s been going on in the world.
We may forget ourselves and our needs during this time of wanting to give to others.
Sometime in all the running around, please remember to put yourself first for a bit. Gift yourself some time to slow down and take a breath. To relax and experience whatever feelings you’re having instead of putting them away to focus on others.
Maybe even put something on the gift list that makes you smile, or an experience you’ve been meaning to try.
Let’s make sure we aren’t so busy trying to bring joy to others that we forget to catch some of that joy for ourselves.
