Happy Holidays
Early in my career, I remember spending a lot of time worrying about where I was and where I was headed.  So concerned about the next accomplishment, whether it was completing my degree program, taking on the next work project, or getting that whole relationship thing down.

So wake me up when it’s all over, when I’m wiser and I’m older

Six years ago today, one phone call changed my life, and my worries, forever.  It was our social worker, telling me that I was going to be a mother.  Little did I know that the worries were just beginning, and the things I had been so concerned about before would become secondary.

All this time I was finding myself, and I didn’t know I was lost

Though I would do nothing differently, if I could, I would go back and talk to my younger self.  Let her know that her worries were unfounded.  That eventually all the things she really wanted were ahead.  All those other accomplishments would pale in comparison to finding the one thing she didn’t know she was looking for.  Home.

Life’s a game made for everyone, and love is the prize

This holiday season, no matter where you are in your career or your life, I hope you have somewhere you can go where you can love and be loved.  Let the insanity of work, shopping for the perfect gift, making ends meet, and other stresses fall by the wayside, allowing you to focus on what matters most to you.

And if you are still searching, keep moving forward.  It may be challenging at times, but the road to home is one only you can take.  The experiences along the way are what help you recognize it when you get there.

Have a wonderful and joyous Christmas.
